Frustrating... Time to vent.

Well, my wife and I and our dog Sam, live in a mini home. Not the old "trailer" that everyone is so fond of. But a new, modern, mini home. The management requests that we maintain our property so the neiboorhood looks good. But sometimes I feel as though our "Mini Home Community" is turning into what everyone calls a "Trailer Park".

By no means do we have the nicest property in town. But we pride ourselves on having a "nice" property. With our busy schedules and the unpredictable Atlantic Canadian weather, we still manage to get a fair amount of maintenance done around the house.

Just this summer alone we stained our front porch and back deck, fixed the front yard up with flowers and what not and regularly mowed the lawn (at least once a week all summer, weather permitting). And of course we pick up after our dog on a regular basis. That's not including the work we did to the inside of our house... New paint, new floors...

Now, I understand that some people may have busier lifestyles than we do. But get real. Anyone can take the time to mow thier lawn once every couple weeks. To pick up the trash in thier yard. And clean up after their pets.

For example... Not naming any names... One of my neighboors doesn't do anything to maitain her property. She has two kids (old enough to help out) and is a single (sort of) mom. I say sort of because she has a boyfriend who is there all the time, heck he might even live with them.

Its disgusting, her yard is a complete mess. Her kids leave toys and garbage all over the yard and often it ends up in my yard. She hasn't mowed her back yard all summer to my knowledge... And her front not much more often... Its gross. Her pigsty is so bad that I'm considering putting up a fence just so I don't have to look at it.

Justan example..

Plus, the mini home community's management insists that we clean our property. So much so that in our time here (over five years) we have received several letters stating that if we don't keep our grass mowed, they will have it done and charge us for it. I guess that only applies to some of us...

What about the empty lots, one beside my house the other across the street??? How hard would it be for them to bulldoze it flat and plant some grass. If the tennants are asked to maintain thier property, shouldn't the owners of the empty lots? I asked about this once... And was told that "priority issues" were being addressed before others. Well this is good and fine, but these have been ongoing problems since before I moved in (over 5 years). If it takes this long to address small problems that can easily be fixed... Well, lets just say I'm glad I don't have a serious issue.

Well thats enough venting for now.
